Ken Austin Critique Sessions
WATERCOLOR CRITIQUES

ABOUT THE CRITIQUE SESSIONS

"I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!"

If you've ever been in this situation with your paintings, you're now in luck. This new critique series will help anyone who wants direction or advice on how to paint better paintings, or how to improve a specific painting. We'll show and discuss paintings one at a time, focusing on what can improve them, or whether you got it and they should just be left alone. If you choose NOT to bring your own paintings, you will still learn from the critics' straightforward suggestions and analyses.

The sessions will be every second Tuesday of the month, from September to February, and will last from one to two hours depending on how many pieces are to be reviewed. The reviews will be in relaxed, informal surroundings. We expect the entire group  to participate in the review (in a positive way), and we expect to have a great time and everyone to have a terrific learning experience!

GET GOOD ADVICE ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR WORK, COMPLETE AN UNFINISHED MASTERPIECE, OR JUST LISTEN TO WHAT'S SAID ABOUT OTHERS' PAINTINGS!

The main critic will be Ken Austin, NWS, FWS, who is well known in the Orlando area for his work in watercolor and for his teaching skills, privately, in workshops and in classes (currently with Crealdé School in Winter Park). Ken has juried many shows in the Central Florida area over the last few years, and has years of practice in reviewing others' work because of his extensive teaching and workshop experience. Every second session will include another skilled critic who can give insights in addition to Ken's.  Finished paintings are welcome, but equally important are unfinished paintings! Furthermore you won't have to have anything to show!  Complete paintings are fine, but , bring in whatever you need advice on. This is not a class, but a critique. If you don't want to bring anything, then just listen. You'll find a world of learning in comments and reviews of other's work.

Transparent watercolor on paper, acrylic on paper, gouache and gouache resist are welcome. No oil or oil-like acrylic works on canvas or thickly applied oil or acrylic on paper. Most other supports are welcome

Artists presenting should come prepared to explain their work and it's directon. These sessions are to help you paint better, not to divert, or destroy your ideas, feelings, or art. I promise (as always) positive, supportive criticism.
